Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery

Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery (TMAG) was established in Hobart, Tasmania in 1843 and today receives 300,000 visitors annually.

The AUD30M stage one redevelopment included raising the roof of the Central Gallery to create a cathedral type exhibition space and new mezzanine level linking the several Henry hunter Galleries. Steensen Varming provided the buidling services for the museum and gallery including the new lifts, ICT wifi, discrete cable and services installation and specific HVAC to suit the requirement conditions.

Lighting systems within the exhibition spaces were carefully chosen and detailed to integrate into the buildings seamlessly, whilst overcoming challenges such as the fixing of track systems and cabling infrastructure onto existing heritage elements with due care.
