British Museum’s Energy Transformation Featured in IAMFA’s Papyrus Magazine

The March issue of the International Association of Museum Facility Administrators (IAMFA)’s member magazine Papyrus features a detailed case study on the British Museum’s Energy Centre Programme.

Written by Tom Taylor, Associate Director at Steensen Varming, the article provides a behind the scenes look at this major infrastructure project designed to “decarbonise energy supply and generation, rationalise services distribution, and improve resilience in the building services infrastructure”.

The case study explores the complexities of the project, from designing a solution that both meets sustainability goals and respects the heritage significance of the site, to integrating the new systems with the Museum’s existing infrastructure.

Steensen Varming is engaged as Lead Consultant and MEP Engineer on the project, in collaboration with architects Wright & Wright, to help deliver a more sustainable future for this iconic Museum.
