Absalon Church

The early 20th century Absalon Church in Copenhagen’s Vesterbro area underwent an impressive transformation into a modern community centre, exploring new ways of bringing people together across generations with various activities, including table tennis, board games, meals and yoga.

Steensen Varming developed the new heating and ventilation systems suited to the building’s new use and energy performance, maximising heat recovery. Supply and convectors were integrated in the reinterpreted pews and old materials were re-used for the bar and kitchen.
